They had grasped the idea of many worlds, and certainly were used to the idea that 'normal' was subjective. Ilphyl had been born in a place where 'plants' -- at least the sort that grew by sunlight -- weren't the base of a ecosystem, after all. Or seasons for that matter.

This was a feeler; back home, that would probably be like a sea elf or triton admitting to knowing about kelp forests or reefs, assumed to be the default.
